Being Škoda’s biggest-selling model in the UK, the Octavia is a key variant in the new GreenLine II range. Available in both hatchback and estate forms, it offers both fleet and private buyers an effective way of reducing their running costs without compromising on performance or practicality.
The cleanest and most fuel efficient Octavia ever made, the GreenLine II is powered by a 1.6 TDI CR 105PS DPF engine that features common rail technology. This engine technology offers many advantages such as quieter running, fewer moving parts and improved performance. Thanks to a combined fuel consumption figure of 74.3 mpg (hatch) and 67.3 mpg(estate), and CO2 emissions of only 99 g/km(hatch) and 109 g/km (estate), the new model is as clean and efficient as cars from the supermini sector, and costs just £0 a year to tax (The estate variant is subject to £20 a year road tax from year two).
To achieve these remarkable figures, the Octavia features the same technologies introduced in other GreenLine II models. These include improved and optimised aerodynamics, low rolling resistance tyres, longer gearing, remapped ECU and revised weight distribution. In addition, the ride height has been lowered by 13mmto improve airflow around the car. As with the standard model, the Octavia GreenLine II features a bold look with distinctive features that forge strong visual links to the rest of the Škoda range.
The interior, meanwhile, continues the Škoda tradition of offering premium-quality materials with equipment levels that few competitors can rival. Most models feature touch-screen entertainment systems while air-conditioning, driver and passenger and side airbags and electric windowsare standard across the entire range. Practicality is another area where the Octavia scores over rival offerings. From the large 585 litre boot (Estate 605 litres) to the integrated dashboard storage areas, the Octavia has been designed with everyday life in mind.
Passengers enjoy generous levels of space both front and rear while the estate version offers even more load carrying ability. With the rear seats folded, the estate can hold an impressive 1,655 litres
of luggage – more than many full-size MPVs.
